The finish for Saturday's two-meter classic event was in the same place as for the sprint, but the starting location was 450 meters to the northwest at the Silver Lake marina.  Competitors waited under cover of the boathouse before their groups were called.  The map covered the area to the south.

Bob Cutter KIØG (at left) oversaw the map table as competitors prepared for their runs in the woods.  Yujia Chen is clearing and checking her "e-stick" as Zhong Zheng and Mike Minium study their maps.

Two-meter ARDF sets are large, so two tarps weren't enough to hold them.

The first starting group included Weiyan Guan (age 12) and Yuelin Chen (age 13).  Guan won silver in M13.

Eagerly waiting in the second group at the starting line are Qidi Li and Yuyin Huang.

Mike Schuh KF7QDZ of Seattle, Washington put a handle on his two-meter yagi to give it balance and make it easy to hold overhead for best reception.

Son Nguyen of Westminster, Colorado took this very unusual two-meter direction finding set onto the course.

Illya Ivanko of Krasny Lyman, Ukraine and Iurii Kolesnykov UR3QRR of Rockford, Illinois race each other up the starting corridor.  Illya took gold in M21 category by finding all five transmitters in just 38 and a half minutes, which was the best overall time of the day.  Iurii captured silver in M50 cataegory.

Brian DeYoung K4BRI races onto the two-meter course, where he will take third place in M50 category.

Jiayong Wang, age 15.

Wei Li ran her way to silver in W13.

Patrick Sears AK4JE is excited to be on the two-meter course.  He will find all four of his required transmitters in a little over two hours.

Kenneth Harker WM5R of Austin, Texas.

Bill Smathers KG6HXX of Santa Barbara, California.
