Before going to the sprint start point, everyone gathered for a group photo. Another group photo would be taken on Saturday when more competitors had arrived.
Then all the competitors were divided into their starting groups and, in that order, followed David Gent W5QZ to the starting area about 300 meters away.
Upon arriving at the start area, competitors placed their receivers in impound until they were called up four minutes before their starts.
Mike Minium of Oxford, Ohio is an experienced orienteer who discovered ARDF when the USA Championships were held in his state during 2003.
Jennifer Harker W5JEN starts out on her way to a silver medal in W35.
Jiabo Lan leaves the starting line, followed by Wenbin Lin.
Xuibin Zhu took bronze in M21.
Yueming Gao hurries onto the course.
Norbert Linke of Stevenson, Maryland is followed closely by Zhuoyao Luo.
Jiaqi Qui was winner of gold in M19.
Joseph Huberman K5JGH had a great run, finding eight transmitters in less than 25 minutes to get a silver medal in M60.
Two medal winners: Guangli Ye (W50 gold) and Yanchen Liu (M13 silver). Ye is one of the Guangzhou School teachers. Liu is twelve years old.
Bangjie Zhou sprints to second place in M19.
Punching in at the finish is Evgheniy Vorsin of Manlius, New York. He won silver in M40.
April Moell WA6OPS (at left) kept busy taking care of feet again. Today she was helped by Alla Mezhevaya (holding tape) as well as Joyce Gent N8WXK (not pictured).
