Public radio station WGBH-FM transmits 100 kilowatts of RF, both analog and digital, from this tower atop Great Blue Hill, which is just one kilometer south of the 80-meter start. Is that why a majority of the competitors heard nothing but noise in their receivers when they reached the end of the 80-meter start corridor? Fortunately, the interference subsided as they headed into the woods and got closer to the transmitters.

Addison Bosley decelerates and punches in to win his second gold medal of the championships.
