The finish line data station was set up next to LAARC's emergency trailer.


At the two-meter finish line, LAARC volunteers were ready to write down times as a backup to the electronic scoring system.  Other volunteers had water and Gatorade ready for the finishers.


Volunteer Anne Browning KD5NLN of LAARC points to the homing transmitter at the entrance to the finish corridor.  This transmitter helps competitors who get lost or lose their maps.  There is a control station next to this transmitter that the competitors must punch to prove that they traversed the entire length of the corridor as their route to the finish.


Volodymyr Gniedov had the best 5-fox time of the day, getting them all and then to the finish in 1:12:28.


Jay Hennigan WB6RDV found his required three transmitters in 1:24:38 to take gold in the M60 category.  He uses a log periodic antenna on two meters.


Nicolai Mejevoi in the finish corridor.  He took R2 silver in M40.


Brian DeYoung K4BRI is almost at the finish control and a R2 gold medal in M50 category.


Dick Arnett WB4SUV of Erlanger, KY was R2 silver medalist in M60 category.


Lori Huberman of Cambridge, MA got rehydrated after her R2 gold medal winning run in W21 category.


Then Lori discussed the course with her mother, Ruth Bromer WB4QZG and Jay Hennigan WB6RDV.


After finishing, Vadim Afonkin KB1RLI (center) discusses the course with Volodymyr Gniedov and Kostiantyn Zolochevskyi, the two Ukrainians.


Bob Cooley KF6VSE of Pleasanton, CA unwinds after his 2m run.  He earned second place in M60 category among the R2 competitors.


Matthias Kuehlwein DL3SDO of Tuebingen, Germany was the best visiting competitor in M40 category on two meters.


Thomas Krahn KT5TK of Houston, TX punches in at the 2m finish line to earn a R2 bronze medal in M40 category.


Here comes Bob Frey WA6EZV of Jacksonville, FL through the woods toward the finish beacon.


Grant Van Skiver VE7GVS punches in at the two-meter finish to qualify for a R2 gold medal in M21 category.


Matthew Robbins AA9YH runs to the finish line as Scott Moore KF6IKO gets liquid replacement.


Scott then headed up the hill to eat.  Box lunches were provided for all competitors and volunteers.


Just as a precaution, April Moell WA6OPS checked the blood pressure of Karla Leach KC7BLA from Bozeman, MT.
